コール・ノートン
画家・アーティスト
金箔貼りや天然岩絵具の日本画の技術、中国の水墨画の筆の技術、古武道修行で培った精神、大学での教鞭経験からの人物解剖学の知識と修練を合わせて、「生命の煌めき」を捉え、表現するため日々技術の研鑽と作品の制作、発表を続ける。
禅の精神を学び、日々の生活や、作品制作の糧になっており、自身の生まれ育ったアメリカで培った西洋的観念や西洋神話と合わせた仏教的哲学は作品の根幹となっている。
1985 米国ウィスコンシン州ミルウォーキー市生まれ
2008 Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design,(MIAD) 美術学士取得
2014 同校にて人物デッサンの講義プログラムの再構築、指導
2015 上海出身の水墨画家、白浪氏に師事
2019 独立、注文制作受注や国内外で制作発表を続ける

Cole Norton / Artist
Cole Norton’s work is rooted in Zen and the dynamic dualities of human nature—light and shadow, courage and fear, Yin and Yang. His paintings capture the energetic exchange between artist, model, and medium, bringing new beings to life through shared presence and intention.

2008 Graduated from the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design, Bachelor of Fine Arts, Illustration
2015 Taught figure drawing at Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design
2015-2020 Apprentice of Chinese master ink wash painter, Hakuro, in Tokyo
2017 Moved to Ome, Tokyo, Japan

アーティスト／キュレーター／通訳・翻訳者
MFA（写真・美術）
身体感覚・記憶・社会的無意識をめぐる問いを軸に、写真を中心とした作品制作と国際的なキュレーション活動を行っている。
日本画や水墨画など東アジアの伝統技法、現代美術の批評的文脈、そして哲学・宗教学の学びを背景に、「個人的な経験を社会的文脈へと媒介する表現」を模索中。
これまでに、ドイツでの日本人作家展の企画、スイスでのアートブック制作、パリやアメリカでの展示に参加。地域の活動にも関わりながら、国際的なプロジェクトとの往還を続けている。

Aki Norton
Artist／Curator／Cultural Interpreter
MFA（Photography）Aki Norton’s work focuses on the raw and inherent beauty of the human being. Her working method focuses on understanding and connecting with the model to find their truest form of expression. The result is an honest and powerful expression.
Aki’s work and educational background are diverse. She studied philosophy at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, and has a degree in Sociology from Asia Pacific University. She worked in public relations in Akasaka, Tokyo, and was a project manager at the International Foundation for Gastrointestinal Disorders, a medical foundation in the US. She completed her MFA at Kyoto University of Arts in 2025.
